Nintendo E3 Announcements Wrap-Up

Unlike last years where Nintendo decided to kick-ass, this year not so much. Now that does not mean that there was nothing of note, as you'll see.

At Nintendo's Wii U Developer Discussion, they announced that they are working on a way to transfer Wii games and save files to Wii U! Nintendo currently detail a 3 layer security system. First is the software will look for "offensive words or terms", then you can flag comments, and lastly mods that will "monitor content on Miiverse". Nothing more that a simple forum system with mods.

The Wii U gamepad is said to have anywhere between 3-5 hours of battery life and will vary depending on usage. You can also charge your gamepad and continue to play.

The Wii U will support 2 separate gamepads.

Current media partners were announced, Netflix, Hulu Plus, YouTube, Amazon Video. The details for those plans have been moved to a later date.

Wii U Games
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pikmin 3 - For years we heard of it and now it's here. Pikmin 3 will be for the Wii U and will feature a  new Pikmin, Rock Pikmin These little guys have the power to take down harder structures then the others. You will have control using the Wiimote, Nunchuk, Motion +, or Wii U gamepad. Those that use the Wii U gamepad you will have more control over the map and control up to 4 leaders. Currently the leader are all characters new to the series and the removal of Capt. Olimar is a secret. The game will also have a challenge mode. In this mode you collect as much fruit as you can within the time limit. Game also will support playbacks of your playthroughs.

New Super Mario Bros. U will allow the player to use the Wii U gamepad of the screen for the game itself. The game will also have what is called, Boost Mode. While others are on the Wii remotes you can use the Wii U gamepad to help reveal block and remove object. (Much like the 5 player mode for the Wii U version of in Rayman: Legends.) You can also work with your friend on the Wii U gamepad to set speedruns. (Unknown if run times will be uploaded and competed against like in Mario Kart.)

Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition will feature all DLC, new control system using the Wii U gamepad, as well as exclusive armors for both Batman and Catwoman. The new controls are called, BAT Mode. During combat Batman's new suit will collect kinetic energy and will fill up a meter. Once full you can activate BAT mode and make all of your moves stronger. Other control features include moving the batarang with the motion of the controller and setting off explosives just by taping them on screen.

Scribblenauts Unlimited will allow player to make their own word and objects to go with them. You can share and edit yours and others creations. Multiplayer will also be a first with this game.

A mash up was also shawn with mostly games we saw last year like, Darksiders 2, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge, TEKKEN Tag Tournament 2, but they did show something new, Mass Effect 3, TANK! TANK! TANK!, and Trine 2: Director's Cut.

Wii Fit U is... the Wii U version of Wii Fit. (This is almost as bad as added "Super" in front of all your titles names.) This will use the current balance board and will include a pedometer, use of the Wi U gamepad without the TV, and will feature new events and exercises.

Sing (working title), is another game that is nothing more that karaoke using the Wii U. This time the words are on the Wii U gamepad instead of the TV. Yeah, it's a bit of a waste.

LEGO City: Undercover is what was know as 'Stories' last year. Now you play as a LEGO cop and is not as interesting as it looked before. Like with other recent LEGO titles it doesn't look as fun. But the trailer and a few funny moments.

Just Dance 4 will allow you to control what dance movements you want the dancers to do. Allowing you to make your friends look like even more of idiots.

ZombiU is what was Killer Freaks from Outerspace. I can imagine the meeting that took it from that to this. "This looks good but I don't think it will sale. You know what's big!? Zombies. Make it about zombies." Using the gamepad as a menu system and for scanning. Nothing new here. But you can use the camera on the gamepad to turn yourself into a zombie and even take pictures.

A mass-up of other titles if you are interested.
Assassin's Creed 3
Rabbids Land
Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2013
Rayman: Legends
Sports Connection
Avengers: Battle for Earth

Nintendo Land is nothing more than a series of minigames set to the theme of other Nintendo series. The game is suppose to be their example of how the system works, much like Wii Sports was for the Wii. But it is currently unknown if it will be bundled or a separate release.

3DS News
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New Super Mario Bros. 2 look much like the past game, but this time it seems more about a new gold theme. Mario will have many ways to collect large amounts of coins such as using golden shell that leave a trail of coins, to Gold Mario form that gives more coins while in that form. In addition to that Raccoon Mario will return as well as local multi-player in Coin Rush mode and full story co-op. This seems more like the theme of the past Wario Lands games then a new Mario one. Will be available on August 19th. Will be available for retail and digital, same day.

Paper Mario Sticker Star will have the player collecting stickers that they will then use in combat as their commands. Sticks will be earned or just found sticking to thing in the environments. Sticker will all so be used to find secret places and items. This will be a retail and digital release for this holiday. Will be available for retail and digital, same day.

Luigi's Mansion 2: Dark Moon will have multiple mansions, each with their own challenges. New kinds of ghosts will also appear in the game. Another holiday release title. Will be available for retail and digital, same day.

LEGO City: Undercover will have differnt story and fetures from the Wii U version.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate is your normal Castlevania fair, but it does mark the return of Alucard, Dracula's son from past games.

Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion will feature Mickey and his brother, Oswald. The game is based off of the SEGA Genesis game of the same name. It will use most all the same elements from the first game through the use of the touchscreen.

Scribblenauts Unlimited looks to be a par for par version of that on the Wii U.

Kingdom Hearts 3D will release in time for it's 10th anniversary and  launches on July 31 with StreetPass features, AR Card compatibility and support for the Circle Pad Pro accessory. A demo version is coming soon to the Nintendo eShop.

For more on all this and more titles that I didn't get to you can go to E3.Nintendo.com for all the current updates.
