Project Cafe - Update

Nintendo sent out an email to investors today announcing their plans for their new system to be shown at this years E3.

To whom it may concern:

Re: Wii's successor system

Nintendo Co., Ltd. has decided to launch in 2012 a system to succeed Wii, which the company has sold 86.01 million units on a consolidated shipment basis between its launch in 2006 and the end of March 2011.

We will show a playable model of the new system and announce more specifications at the E3 Expo, which will be held June 7-9, 2011, in Los Angeles.

Sales of this new system have not been included in the financial forecasts announced today for the fiscal term ending March 2012.

This means of course that the new system would go on sell sometime in 2012.

President of Nintendo has said that he “doesn't think 3D TVs have spread enough yet”. So no 3D for the console (think God).

Why they are moving from their current system Iwata has said,

"It became difficult for developers to surprise customers with the current Wii.”

This new system will be up to spec for the third-party devs. But I can only imagine the games Nintendo will make.

Lastly I have learned that the new system will do away with the friend codes.

Mind you that these are just concepts and might not be what the final product looks like.
